MOre Gifts are Given

Volunteers have been busy sharing our allocated gifts from 2025. Our membership voted to to gift the remaining money raised in 2025 to divide between Lunches of Love and Parks Youth Ranch. Each were gifted $2000.

Two of our executive board members, Melissa and Joy, brought Lunches of Love over 150 decorated bags from our March membership meeting, almost $500 in lunch items form their wish list, and a check to round out the $2000 to LoL this year. They were so excited to bring this gift on the 10th anniversary of Lunches of Love. What a great celebration of service to the children of Fort Bend County.

A week later, more than a dozen or our membership volunteered to bring lunch to the kids of Parks Youth Ranch and spend the day with them playing some card and board games. The Ranch asked for their donation in gifts cards for the kids to use so se brought them Walmart, Cinemark, Chipotle, Whataburger and Starbucks. This give the kids some freedom to buy what they want and learn some important life skills. We had a wonderful time learning more about some of these kids and their time at the shelter.

This was the first monetary donation to Lunches of Love from SWL. This gift from 2025 brings the League's donation total to Parks Youth Ranch over $7,450 since 2018.

SWL First Volunteers of the year start with a win

Several of our members showed up bright and early to volunteer at the 2026 Felicia Smith Jigsaw Puzzle Competition. This is the fourth year in a row we have helped out Hope for Three with their big fundraising event. This was the first year it was held at the Rosenberg VFW and was packed with puzzle doers.

SWL registered a team of four in the 300 piece category. Members Melissa Sprafka, Judy Barr, Margaret Blanchard, and Jen Barr came in first place for the category, finishing their puzzle in just 45 minutes.

Hope for Three started having the same event in the summer of 2025. We look forward to participating again in July to support this amazing partner of ours.
