Raffle success at BBQ Event

The Sienna Women's League recently attended the Sienna BBQ Throwdown on April 27 in the community of Sienna to raffle off a custom cooler handcrafted by local painter, Richard Alaniz. Thanks to Richard's generous donation, as well as the alcohol donations of several members and community members, SWL was able to offer a fully stocked cooler filled with liquor, beer and wine! The lucky winner was announced around 6:00 PM on Saturday at the event. Huge thanks to all of our donors and ticket purchasers - we were able to raise over $1000! These funds allow our organization to continue to grow our impact within Fort Bend County.

Park's Youth Ranch Volunteer Day

Sienna Women's League has been looking for ways to expand our impact within the Fort Bend Community. In 2023, a member committee evaluated multiple non-profit organizations within Fort Bend, searching for new areas where SWL could offer support: Park's Youth Ranch (PYR) is one of those organizations. PYR provides emergency shelter and services to homeless youth. The program shelters youth ages 7-17 for short periods of time or 16-20 year olds for up to 18 months. PYR is the only non-profit emergency shelter for youth in Fort Bend County. Either of our members visited their facility on April 6 to support with PYR's community event, Go Fish. Our members enjoyed seeing the facility, interacting with the youth and spending time together.

Supporting Our

Community While

Building Bonds of Friendship

Sienna Women's League officially started the new year on January 17, 2024 at Sawmill Lake Club. Members were treated to a special guest appearance by Alana Higginbotham. Alana is an expert in mentorship and coaching with more than 20 years experience working with clients to elevate their lives. Alana brought laughs and inspiration by sharing personal stories and was so loved by the group that many have asked for her return next year! Luckily there are many ways to stay engaged with Alana as she is a published author, podcast host, Certified Life Coach, professional speaker and local community member. She can be found on all social platforms.

During the business portion of our meeting, several Board Members covered the 2024 vision for the league. SWL is excited to bring members more opportunities to get involved in the community and build more and stronger friendships with other league members by offering monthly group volunteering opportunities and monthly socials.

On October 11, 2023 Sienna Women's League President, Monica Hollister and VP of Community Service, Margaret Blanchard presented a grant to Amy Sebastian Deutsch and Yolanda Lopez with Houston Methodist Sugar Land's Cancer Survivorship Center. SWL is honored to support the great work done by the Cancer Survivorship Center. With the steady growth of cancer incidence in Fort Bend County residents Methodist Sugar Land started offering formal cancer survivorship programs in 2017 to survivors close to home. Services are open to Fort Bend County residents regardless of where they receive medical treatment. Survivorship services provided include: financial navigation services, breast cancer support group, grief support group, skin cancer screening services and art and music therapy.

On September 13, 2023 at Sienna Womens League's monthly membership meeting, a check for $2,500 was presented to Bobbie Anderson with Fort Bend ISD's Shared Dreams. These funds were raised as part of SWL's annual Back to School Drive. In addition to monetary donations, SWL collected supplies valuing approximately $2,500.

Thank You to the Back to School Committee.
